Juan Mata to Manchester United becomes most talked about transfer

Juan Mata’s transfer from Chelsea to Manchester United has become the most talked about move of all time on Twitter – surpassing deals involving Gareth Bale and Mesut Ozil.

Mata completed a £37million move to Old Trafford last week, in a deal that took most football fans by surprise.

And the shock factor of Chelsea selling such a superb player to one of their rivals clearly set tongues wagging on Twitter, with the player mentioned 10 million times during the January window.

It surpasses the previous most talked about deal – Bale to Real Madrid, which scooped 8.4million mentions, while Ozil’s switch from Madrid to Arsenal generated 4.3million tweets.
